About Me
I'm a software engineer who loves building things front to back and understanding how every piece fits together, from the database up through the interface someone actually touches. My deepest expertise is on the front end, but that instinct to understand the whole system shows up in almost everything I do: at work, in my side projects, and in how I approach learning something new.
My path here wasn't a straight line. I studied Financial Management at BCIT and spent five years working in that world before deciding to pivot into development. I went back to BCIT for New Media Design and Web Development, graduating with Distinction in 2022, and that finance background still shapes how I think about building software for people with real technical and business needs.
That same instinct to understand the whole system is probably why I've gravitated toward applied AI lately. I helped bring GitHub Copilot and Claude into our PR review pipeline at work, and I like finding the parts of a process that are repetitive or slow and figuring out how to automate them without losing quality. Outside of work, I build full-stack side projects because I like owning every layer, frontend, backend, and the decisions in between.
When I'm not building things, I play drums with my band, Joey Chaos and the Ghosts and spend my downtime gardening, reading, and gaming.
